Late Fees and How to Avoid Them-Updated July 4, 2022

Updated July 4, 2022

How are late fees calculated?

If the bill is unpaid by the due date, you will see a late fee on your next bill and on the following bills should any portion of the account balance remain unpaid.
A monthly late fee of 1.5% is charged on the outstanding balance or a minimum amount of $5 per month.
E.g. The past due amount is $137.50.  The late fee is $5.00. (1.5% of $137.50 is $2.06)
The past due amount is $795.00. The late fee is $11.93.

How can I avoid late fees?

Choose a payment method that posts to your account immediately and make payment by the due date on page 1 of your bill.
Making your payment close to the due date via a payment method that doesn't post immediately (online banking, cheque sent via regular mail) puts you at risk for a late fee and service disruption if the balance remains unpaid. Online banking payments can take up to 3 business days to post to your One account.

Update July 4, 2022
PLEASE NOTE: If you make payment via a method that posts immediately to your account after 8pm, you will see a late fee on your next bill. No need to worry, because One will automatically credit that late fee. You will see the credit on the following month's bill.
E.g. You pay the bill at 9pm on July 31. You will see a late fee on your August 1 bill and a credit on your September 1 bill.
